Card Game Made Of Different Materials

A playing card is a piece of specially prepared card stock, heavy paper, thin cardboard, plastic-coated paper, cotton-paper blend, or thin plastic that is marked with distinguishing motifs. Often the front and back of each card has a finish to make handling easier.

Which playing card material is right for you? It really depends on your game. SESE Printing offers a wide selection of options for you to choose from for your custom card game. Let's check out some of the more common and less common materials that have been used to make playing cards.

Black Core Paper

The card is made by sandwiching a black opaque adhesive core between 2 layers of paper. Black core is an extra black layer sandwiched right in the middle of the cards. This is favored by casinos because the layer blocks light rays from shining that doesn’t allow players to see the cards.

Blue Core Paper

The card game is made by sandwiching a blue opaque adhesive core between 2 layers of paper. It is used to limit the amount of light being able to shine through your cards. Blue core is the standard and is used in most of the games found at game shop.

Art Paper

Art paper is type of paper that has a smooth and glossy surface. Art paper has a thickness that varies from 85 grams to 150 grams. Usually, art paper is used to print calendars, brochures, flyers, posters, and even magazines.

Greyboard has a huge variety of uses. It made from 100% recycled paper. Greyboard consist of glued layers of paper fibres with a smooth surface on both sides. Since it is made from recovered paper and is not bleached, the grey tones will vary slightly from board to board.

Art Paper Mounted with Paper Board

Art Paper Mounted with Paper Board refers to pasting two white cardboards together so that the two become one and form a new thing or whole. The two sides of ordinary white cardboard are different now, one side is coated, the other side is uncoated so it is rougher, and the smoothness and glossiness of the back side are poor. Just like coated paper, double copper is coated on both sides, so there is not much difference between the two sides, and single copper is only coated on one side, so the smoothness and gloss of the back are poor. To mount is to glue two layers of paper together.

PVC playing cards are ultra-durable, waterproof, and make any game more fun by being clear. Perfect for the beach, pool or camping, these cards are well-suited for almost any wet or humid situation. Way beyond typical playing cards, they’re washable, flexible, easy to shuffle.

Playing cards can be an enjoyable way to pass the time. Whether you prefer paper cards for their classic look or pvc cards for their durability, there is a type of playing cards to suit everyone’s needs by printing from SESE Printing.
